I'd say this chimp was playing at the same level as a 3 year old. Not really understanding the rules of the game, not making strategies, and only really taking clues about what to do from the trainer.

yeah it seemed to be mostly random turning, but apes kan become very clever. saw a show once on a gorilla who had masterd a great deal of sign language. but of course it could'nt make complete sentences. but still pretty impressive.
