i'd never seen this game but it looks hard coordinating those defense fields or whatever and all.... and this guy is playing the two ships at the same time! truly impressive.

It's just faking the hand. it play by two person. One uses right hand the other uses the opposite. it very easy.
VORTEX_ro (guest)  -  April 28, 2006, 18:51
nah ,man,it's not facke,he sometimes moves the 2 ships in the same time, perfeckt coordonation, witch is very hard on 2 players +one of them would have to be a lefty+ and soo on,So it is possible, but it is easyer to think he did it on his own

Yeah. Ikaruga was a unique fighter where you had two types of energies: Light and Dark. When using the Dark field, you could not be harmed by Dark forces and vis versa for the Light field. I remember it being next to impossible to beat :D. My god what a performance!

Dude, its one guy. If it were two people, who plays like that? Normal people when they have both hands free use on hand for the joystick and the other for the buttons.

Ikaruga Explained (guest)  -  September 4, 2006, 00:00
Ikaruga is one of the most difficult shooters i've come across. The idea behind it is that you can block bullets of the same color as your ship, and you can flip your color from black to white, during which there is a slight period of vulnerability (it seems). It doesn't show up when this guy's playing, because he is killing everything so quickly with his dual firepower, but the game makes nets of cross-colored shots so that you have to really stretch your brain to continually dodge them. Furthermore, though i've only played the dreamcast version, he's basically playing on the "normal" difficulty, which means that ships will release several somewhat random shots of their same color towards you, so if you kill a black ship, it'll release several black bullets, so be prepared. The advantage to changing colors is not just defensive. black ships are weak to your white shots, and vice versa. Not only that, but when you do absorb shots the same color as you, you get a super shot guage filled. On use, it releases that bunch of homing shots you see, and it is color-coded as well. Finally, there is a combo guage, which is used for score only, tho that translates to extra lives (if you're terribly good =P). It works by you getting the same color of ship killed 3x in a row, which completes a combo. This game will affect you after playing it. your mind keeps wanting to switch colors, it's a crazy feeling =P play the dreamcast game and play on hard mode, and you'll have more shots released from dead ships, things take longer to kill, more ships (i think), and in addition they release a couple shots of the ship's opposite color, just to screw with your head. Very hard, but addicting. Go buy it. or emu it, or something =P.
