The robot is cheating. It remembers the moves it made and just reverse them. Baaaad robot.

Agree, a human should have scrambled the cube

Well, if you look at the video you'll se that it doesn't use the same moves when it solves the cube. It isn't reversed.

maybe the whole movement, icluding the scramble, is programed. so just like robert said, let the human scramble it.

There is one robat made in lego witch uses a camera to calculate with moves to do. http://www.collisiondetection.net/mt/archives/2004/02/lego_robot_that.html

I'd like to see the faces closer, to make sure the robot is really using the algorithms and not reversing what he already did. To my opinion, if an human scrambles it, it won't be able to do it, because he won't know where the faces are ! I think it keeps the position of the faces when it scrambles the cube, and then applies the algorithms.

A mechanical device capable of performing a variety of often complex human tasks by being programmed in advance. If it werent pre-programmed it would not be a robot, it would be a mechanical lifeform capable of reason and thought. If you have never played with a robot arm this is amazing, if you have its still pretty neat seeing that it uses 6 servos for 3 axis', though there is no way to move the 3 center rings independently

I've seen a human solve rubik's cube faster than that robot.

It must be scrambled by the robot because it can't move the middle layer of cubes so it requires a 'custom' scrambling. It's pretty easy for a computer to solve such a cube so I don't see the reason why it wouldn't. I was expecting more speed though...

you are wtong about the mid layers.. its the same thing moving the "mid layer" clockwise as moving both the top and bottom layer counterclockwise.. The mid layer is just relative to the top and bottom ones.. I think this robot could really solve it, either by remembering its scrambling and solving if just by using different algorithms, or if its really complex it might recognize the 6 different colours. Just by teaching the robot around 8 algorithms or "moves", it could solve it..

Pretty cool, but I agree with those that have said that a human should've scrambled it...

bbooo who ever made this is wasting my time

Wish I could do that!
