jackson (guest)  -  September 20, 2006, 22:14
This is true? :S
McDrive  -  September 20, 2006, 23:27
why was yesterdays movie removed?
Ulf  -  September 21, 2006, 09:08
Hopefully because of copyright infringement. But it is silly if the author of the movie made the claim to have it removed, since spreading the message should be much more important than earning some dollars.
McDrive  -  September 21, 2006, 09:50
earning paper you mean... i really gotta see this.. hope it's still on Gvid :)
Nolan  -  September 21, 2006, 11:53

I'm pretty confused at the message this short film is trying to convey. Fist off Amendment XVI The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration. Did they forget to look in the books containing this piece of information? Second he jumps around to much from talking about income tax to the FED to chip implants. This film is on the path all Michael Moors films are on which is the one sided view. Sure a lot of truth was given in this short film but not the whole truth. It’s very easy to convey your message when you give one side of it. What he fails to mention is that there should be no reason for Americans to get all crazy about wire taping or phone surveillance. 99.9999% of Americans are no doing anything wrong so phone taping shouldn’t be of concern. The government is out to protect America and what America stands for, freedom. And if any of you say we don’t have freedom then go live anywhere else in the world and see how you like it. America is and will always be the freest place on earth to live. The government has to keep this freedom at all cost possible, we are the world leaders. Just imagine if another country ran this planet. No a good idea….This is why we have terrorists because we rule the world and they want to destroy that power. The world is a different place then It was 50 100 200 years ago when rules where made. We need to change with the times and shut up and respect what we have cause if the government doesn’t do what it has to do you wouldn’t be alive right now.

Brody: I think you're right about everything in the first part of your comment. This film (like most michael moores films) is one-sided and designed more like a commercial than a documentary trying to tell the truth. But your opinion on phone tapping is frightening. What about peoples' privacy? What's even more frightening is your view on the United States running the world. Sure, you are the world police (a good thing? I don't know...) but you're not "running" the world. You say yourself that the power your nation has and uses is the very reason we have terrorists. So it's up to you and president Bush to break that evil cycle. Anyway, it sounds to me you need to get out more in the world to see that it consists of more than your United States.

OMG!
GuestyMcGuest (guest)  -  September 21, 2006, 22:38
I agree with Biiorn. Brody is right, this is just far left propaganda with little in the way of real facts. Though this guy is alot crazier than Michael Moore. Anyway, I also agree that Brody's opinions on surveillance are a frightening attitude. Giving up freedom under the guise that it will make us all safer and more free is INSANE! Literally, it is insanity to believe such a thing. It goes against the founding principals of this country and flies in the face of freedom. Saying "if you're not doing anything wrong, you shouldn't care" is bullshit. BULLSHIT! Sorry but I'm allergic to bullshit. Everyone has a right to have their privacy without fear that "big brother" is listening in or watching over their shoulder. I'm not saying we're becoming a fascist nation or anything crazy like that. But I AM saying that giving up freedoms like privacy under the guise of fear and that idea the government can protect us better if we do is not only insane, it's unamerican and frighteningly the wrong direction for a free and democratic society.

I like conspiracy theory... but this is poorly written... some points yes... are valid... many however, are quite false... and poorly supported
navysealltblue  -  September 22, 2006, 01:28
however I do have to agree that I do fel that the government oversteps its bounds in some respects... the whole income tax being unconstituitional destroys the credibility of anything else that they say, since the 16th amendment gives congress the ability to tax as they see fit.
pre (guest)  -  September 22, 2006, 16:30
there has to be another solution to make us safer other than giving up liberties. i don't agree with all of this video, however, when it comes to taxes it is true the government over steps. in the constitution, taxes are only alotted for defense (military) and roads.
pre (guest)  -  September 22, 2006, 16:32
btw USA doesn't want to be the world police. but other countries COMPLAIN if we don't do something, and the COMPLAIN when we do do something.
CoGib  -  September 22, 2006, 19:04
Usa powaaaaaaa!!!!
Eric (guest)  -  September 23, 2006, 17:27
Other countries complain when you PUT IN VETO in the UN so that no country can defend the defenseless. Skip the goddamn veto and no one would whine if you didn't do anything. On topic. It's a sad development to see some of this happening. Not only in the US but in other parts of the world too.
mbandgeek  -  September 24, 2006, 04:24
What really scares me is that little rfid chip thing.
mech (guest)  -  September 27, 2006, 11:14

pre (guest)  -  September 27, 2006, 15:27
rfid tag is the future. the government will know where you are at all times. scarey eh? tell you what scares me more. a one world government that knows where i am all the time. beware... read Revalations
steh (guest)  -  September 27, 2006, 16:59
read Soylent Green
JBird (guest)  -  October 1, 2006, 08:29
Soylent Green is FICTION. Yes this film is mainly fiction too- a bunch of half-truths. Unfortunately a bunch of half-wits will believe it is true. So lets' say for the sake of argument that nobody has to pay taxes. What the heck do you think will happen to this country, any country? Taxes pay for our schools, among many other useful and necessary things for a society to function. I won't even address the silly chip. That will never happen for many reasons. This video is scare-mongering pure and simple. It will be take as truth only by the simple minded who don't fully understand the necessity and role of government.
dorkus (guest)  -  October 5, 2006, 17:00
This is a dumb video. The wiretapping, like any government conspiracy is insignificant. If the government ever stepped out of bounds so far that it would significantly affect the American public, we would know about it, and would be able to do something about it. Brody, America is not the reason that there are terrorists. And if, hypothetically it were the reason, then it wouldn't mean that terrorists are right and America is wrong. The scariest part of this video is that people are constantly trying to find things that are wrong with the government, and not supporting the government. Everyone has a theory about why the government is bad, but very few of those people have a valid solution, or the gumption to be involved enough with politics to fix it. Picketing with some vague statement or agenda is everyone's solution.
Keepitreal (guest)  -  October 5, 2006, 17:32
dorkus... name fits perfect.. you must work for the government. The government is hear to serve the people. Jbird...if people stopped paying income taxes the monies could be used to further stimulate the economy. Did you not listen to the video? Income tax payed goes to pay off the interest on the national debt, nothing moore! It's all about FEAR & CONTROL. The government uses FEAR to control the masses.
whatever (guest)  -  October 14, 2006, 06:52
the point is that the power of the government is no longer in the hands of its citezens. For example the government refusal to close the boarder.
ben (guest)  -  November 12, 2006, 11:32
y0h. the rfid talk is talked upped. settle down lady. also, you're all f'ed in the a. we've simply outgrown the usefulness of our current government infrastructure. it's gotta evolve like we are. of course there is resistance. we're human. we're american. stfu. wanna brat or burger?
Gengar003 (guest)  -  November 22, 2006, 07:39
Set out to make a movie about the lack of a law requiring income tax. Should have done that. He delves into complaints and "conspiracies" of the federal government/federal reserve that are positive, beneficial practices, that even a high-shool economics course could explain. The income tax point is valid. The rest is bull.
Scorpio  -  February 9, 2007, 03:35
damn im comin into this so late, i hope someone reads it, i agree with those of you who think the government needs to change with time, its so obvious. The point i would like to make is that the way our government works right now is that we have few people "representing" the masses, fact is... it is impossible for one person to effectively represent ALL of the people that voted them to do so. This was a brilliant idea.... 200 years ago!!!! 200 years ago it would take a long time to get everyones opinion on a matter... With our current technology it is possible to get everyones opinion practically instantly. Is it time to rewrite the books? Am i way off base here?
