Makes you wonder what people 77 years ago thought of this.... And what people 100 years from now will think about our most advanced technology nowadays... (Assuming the world will still exist by then, which isn't very likely judging by the way we're abusing it)

Oh my god! Thi sis the most beutiful, most precisly made cartoon that disney ever made! (i think...) Just listen to the music! See the co-ordination between music and movement! And it is a simple idea, which often is the best ones. Some skeletons dancing untill its morning! Wow...

Dunno why it should be so special. It's just a typical classic disney movie, they always have movies like this. It's just a bit more cruel as they use skeletons instead of happy figures. I do like it though, I like all classic disneys

That creature at the very end is pretty intense for a disney cartoon. I enjoyed it.

Wow.

The "special" thing about it is, as 12345 says, that it was Disney's very first animation.

ive loved this since i was a kid watching disneys halloween specials. they now dont show that special on tv anymore. i think its completly diffrent cartoon that shows a lighter side of a grave yard then anyone else has ever portrayed. great music as well

Actually, the first Disney animation (that I know of, at least), was "Steamboat Willy". This is cool not because of it being the first, but because of the technical skill put into it, as well as the creativity. Not only does the music match perfectly (no small feat of its own), but also the fact that they're skeletons. They are completely correct as far as basic anatomy is concerned, down to they're hands and feet. Nowadays, we'd just use some generic, one- piece skeleton head and enough of the skeleton to "get the gist of it", rather than put in the extra time and effort. To Disney's credit, this is one of their more remarkable talents. It seems ironic that they'd later fire a young Tim Burton for doing this sort of stuff, though.

Finally, I found what I enjoyed with my siblings as a child on the Disney Channel around Halloween time back in the 80's. Now I can share it with my son!

I love that cartoon, I was told it was the first Silly Symphony that Disney made, not the first animation. I grew up with this cartoon, so naturally I think it rocks. And for the time it was made, it was pure genius! Look at some of the cartoons we have today... now some of those are disturbing. I wouldnt let a child watch half the stuff they have out as "cartoons" today. Some of it isnt even suitable for kids. This animation that was done back in 1929, is something the whole family can enjoy and was meant to be enjoyed. I would absolutely love it if they would bring some of these old animations back to television, they are enjoyable.

Absolutely gorgeous. AMAZING artistic triumph. I've loved this short since I was really, really little.
